Staycation: Hike to Battle Creek falls

Battle Creek Falls

It is a fairly easy hike, but can get steep and tiresome. But for those in better shape, may not get winded:) Maddie and Rob kept a steady pace ahead and I held Aj's hand and helped keep him going. He did get tired at one point but then we heard the waterfall and he started running.

You climb down to the bottom of the waterfall and had a picnic. The kids took off of their shoes and splashed in the water. When we got there there was another family that remained for a few minutes. After that we had the whole waterfall to ourselves for an hour or so. It is an amazing experience to be that close and hear the rushing water and feel the spritzing on your face.

Directions: We took the American Fork exit, and headed east. The road will turn all over the place but keep on it until it leads you straight to the trail. You will be in Pleasant Grove and on 200 south. You will pass a park called Battle creek park, but keep going. You will need to pass the huge Pleasant Grove water tank and then you are in the dirt parking lot.

On the left there is a "Kiwanis Park" that has a pavilion with tables. To the left, between the big rocks, is the small dirt trail you take. It starts out really wide, narrows, than gets a bit steeper. You can't hear any water anywhere. Then you get to a little mini waterfall and pool, and you think, this is nice but not that big of deal. Cross the bridge and keep trekking. All at once, as you are walking with just the sounds of crickets and birds, you hear the sound of rushing water. You turn the corner and there is the amazing waterfalls.
